Overview
Chargen
You'll be using the Player's Handbook for chargen. There will be no supplemental classes or species, though spells can be picked from any supplements or splats otherwise.
XP: 20,000
Stat Points: 73 before racial modifiers, stats can range between 3 and 18 before said modifiers are applied.
Equipment: All of the conventional(i.e. non-magical) gear you can reasonably carry, 1000 gold pieces besides, and one permanent magical item(of up to +1 modifier) or up to five limited-use items(tell me what you're interested in and I'll adjudicate it)
Clerics: Tell me who your deity is, we'll work out your accessible magic spheres, allowed weapons and extra abilities based on it.
Mages/Bards: Start out knowing any ten 1st-level spells, any five 2nd-level spells and any two 3rd-level spells.

Challenges
Challenge #1
Write a brief promotional pamphlet for the camp. It can be as loud and short as a slogan and a description of the sick art on the front, or it can be an actual pamphlet about how you're gonna make people's kids swole, rich, morally upstanding, able to pick up chicks or anything else. Any pamphlets produced by this challenge, no matter how mutually exclusive and contradictory, will all be considered to be canonically produced and distributed by the party to sell people on their camp.

Challenge #2
Write a brief synopsis of a previous adventure the party's been on. If there's some sort of EPIC FINAL BOSS attached to it, note whether he escaped, was captured or was (supposedly) defeated. This is totally not because I intend to use your previous opponents as inspiration for future adventures. Honest.
Reward: +2500XP

Challenge #3
Write a theory on what happened in the blasted clearing Shaw and Cucumber discovered, as well as what's so special about the leather armor and club left behind.
Reward: +5 Max HP
Challenge #4
Write up an elaborate guess on what Aksinya's curse will cause to happen.
Reward: +1 to Lowest Stat

House Rules
Mages use the Clerics' Wisdom table for extra spells/day, except calculating their extra spells based on Intelligence instead.
Extra languages from high Intelligence can be exchanged on a 1:1 basis for extra proficiency slots instead.
You can refluff any weapon your class is capable of using to any other weapon. For instance, if you're a Fighter using a two-handed sword, you could fluff that as a two-handed battle-maul, or you could fluff a longsword as being a mace. The stats remain the same, obviously, and you must have been able to use the "base" weapon(a thief couldn't pick the two-handed sword and then fluff it as a dagger instead).
Everyone gets the Reading/Writing proficiency for free, unless they specifically want to roleplay an illiterate character. You can read any language you can speak.
Weapon proficiency slots can be exchanged for non-weapon proficiency slots on a 1 for 1 basis.
The Camp
Location
On a volcanic island with sandy beaches, tropical jungles and ancient, foreboding ruins dotted around the place. There may also be hidden villages of cannibal natives or the like. Or dungeons. It'll be a formative experience.
The camp is located in the eastern ruins: https://i.imgur.com/JZEmGeF.png
It's also furnished with all sorts of exciting ACTIVITY STUFF like a zipline! Archery targets! A fire pit! Access to the sea! Working sewers!

Camp Attendees
The camp welcomes attendees of all races, genders and classes. As long as they can afford to attend, that is.
Xygax Darkspur, AKA Colin: Son of the Sun of Arrano. Likes to dress in black, spiky things and wear pale makeup. His dad is convinced this is just a phase, which embarrasses Colin incredibly, just like everything about his dad. Human and male. Chaotic Neutral. May be a bit cursed.
Elias Hobble: Halfling boy who likes military things. A lot. Possibly too much. Lawful Neutral.
Aksinya Ruf: Aspiring human bard, female. Chaotic Good. Probably really cursed.
Onyekachi Hlengiwe: Her parents thought she needed to get out of the house more. Wears a robe, seems like she's not too interested in her surroundings. Very protective of her luggage. Lawful Neutral.
Johnny Oaktusk: Half-Elf brother of Johnny Oaktusk. Hates his brother a bit less, may have a gift for haruspexy. Neutral Good.
Jonas Oaktusk: Half-Orc brother of Jonas Oaktusk. Hates his brother a bit less. Neutral Good. Probably has a touch of the ol' curse.
Floris Tjaard: Very devout young man who's fascinated with the majesty of nature. No telling how his very sharp sickle plays into this just yet. Lawful Evil.
Fearghas Cahir: Elven street-gang leader. Elven male. Neutral Evil.
Izaak: He expects to die before the trip his over, his parents don't seem very concerned with him. Human male. Chaotic Good. Too cursed to live, RIP. Certainly going to be dead in days.
Hixpyx: Lizardman of indeterminate gender. Does not speak Common, Elven, Draconic, Dwarven or Orcish. Well-behaved otherwise, wears tribal paints and otherwise only the minimum necessary for modesty. Neutral Good.
Other Characters
Betsy: Thorgood's giant eagle. She's technically his holy mount, but mostly wants to tend to her eggs and maybe go study for a degree in accounting. She's definitely too smart for the job.
Cucumber: Shaw's giant hunting dog. Goes WARF. Likes to fetch things. Terminally good-natured.
Haldor, the Sun of Arrano: Legendary divine champion of Thorgood's faith. Insufferably good and heroic. Also Colin's father. He rides a very impressive large dragon.
